It is the main public high school and largest in Maha Sarakham Province, located around the central main town district or Amphoe Muang. The school admits Mathayom levels 1 to 6 (Grades 7-12). It started in 1906 as a school for boys in the Positaram temple, then later was established as a formal co-educational school on July 10, 1913. The school gradually grew larger through the years and has now over 3,000 students. The school has specialized programs for students such as the English Program (EP), with various subjects taught in the English Language by foreign teachers and some Thai subjects, and a Gifted Program, which focuses on Math and Science subjects taught in Thai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sarakhampittayakhom School\u2019s English Program was established in 2003 as one of the pioneering English Programs established by the English Language Institute under the Office of the Basic Education Commission, of Thailand\u2019s Ministry of Education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Description<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sarakhampittayakhom School is the main public high school under the Secondary Education District Office Area 26 in Maha Sarakham Province. The school admits Mathayom level students 1 to 6 (K7-K12). The school has numerous specialized programs for Thai students such as the English Program, the Gifted Program, Sports Program, Multi-Lingual Program. The school follows the 2008 Curriculum of the Ministry of Education\u2019s Office of the Basic Education Commission. Classes start at 08:00H and end at 16:00H from Mondays to Fridays, with special classes on Saturdays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The English Program of Sarakhampittayakhom School occupies the 4th and 5th floors of Building 6 (English Program Building). There are two sections each for lower Mathayom levels 1-3 and one section each for upper Mathayom levels 4-6. The upper level Mathayom students are divided into two major learning areas that they choose as their field of study, namely the Science and Math program and the Arts and Languages program. The Arts and Languages program offer Chinese or Japanese language classes. All Mathayom levels of the English Program are taught English as a major subject, along with other subjects such as Math, Science, Social Studies, Art, PE, Health, Home Economics, Computer with English as the medium of instruction. Additional supporting and remedial classes are also taught in Thai language. The English Program (EP) is characterized as a \u201cschool within a school\u201d as it provides special amenities and facilities for the students and staff of the program. Teaching staff of the EP consist mainly of foreigners from different nationalities.
